Choose an assortment your customers need
Review the products your customers ask for, the equipment common in your area and the shelf space you can dedicate. Start with a clear assortment rather than trying to carry every viscosity and package.
For example, a store serving diesel pickup owners can organize inquiries by engine requirements and maintenance task. Train staff to use the application lookup instead of recommending a grade only because it is popular locally.
Manage inventory as a retail decision
Set a review schedule for stock levels, demand and slow-moving items. Decide who places orders and who checks deliveries. Make sure package sizes, individual units and cases are recorded consistently in your inventory system.
Evaluate delivery costs alongside inventory holding costs. Ordering too much to reach a shipping threshold can tie up cash and shelf space. A purchasing plan should reflect actual turnover and your business priorities.
Prepare for application review
Have your business identity, contact information, location and description of operations ready. Explain how customers access your business and how products will be sold. The official application is reviewed; submitting it does not itself create an approved account.
If your business both sells packaged products and performs services, explain both activities. AMSOIL’s Installer enrollment currently uses the Retail application, so the business description helps identify the appropriate program support.

Can a Retail Account sell online?
The official Retail application says Retail Accounts cannot resell AMSOIL products online or through retail catalogs.
Is this the same as a Dealership?
No. Storefront product resale and an independent AMSOIL sales business are different models. Explain your intended activity before choosing a program.
Is application approval immediate?
No. AMSOIL reviews the business. Watch for the confirmation and any follow-up requests rather than assuming the account is active.
